WGS Copper

We wanted to bring you one of the most iconic British amps ever made. WGS Copper is our capture of a Original 1964 Vox AC30.  We strive to bring you a truly curated collection of the best amps ever made.  This one is at the very top of that list.

We captured the amp in its sweet spot, where the amp really starts to open up but isn’t too overdriven. You get two capture sets, one through a UK Greenback and one through a UK Silver. Each set includes 7 captures across the Normal and Brilliant channels.

Microphones used are the Shure 545, a ribbon, the KSM32, and the PR30. Everything was captured with our usual process in a controlled studio environment. We tested several speakers and microphones before selecting what we believe captured the amp at its best.

There is no post processing on these captures at all. They sound as close to a mic’ed up amp as you can get. This is refinement, not reinvention. Just a classic AC30 doing what it does best.
